We are currently updating our online resources for PhD students which will link to programmes that we deliver to UK HEIs. As part of this process, we are seeking input from PhD supervisors in the form of short video clips (less than one minute per question) answering the following questions:

  1. How would you as a supervisor recommend structuring the first year of a PhD?
  2. What do you expect from students in terms of planning their work?
  3. What would be your top tip in terms of maximising the value of supervision?
  4. What advice do you wish you had been given when trying to complete your thesis?

Videos from contributors will be edited together and the aim is to produce a 5-minute video for each question with a range of different tips – all contributions will be credited.
